Coat of Arms

"Shield per fess by argent abaised wavy barrulet on gules and vert. In the first field is an argent wooden fortress with a watchtower in the middle of it and loopholes on the sides. The board has or border. The arms is edged by decorative cartouche and decorated by a rural crown.
Fortress is a symbol of protection against the Tatar attacks. On towers set fire to flanks with pitch to give a sign on an attack. The barrulet is symbol of the Oskol river."

The Village

"It was found in 1655. By one of versions, the name occurs from a hill which had abrupt and high breakage as a wall. On the second, near village there was dense wood as a wall."
