It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.

Shield Vert a festival arch Argent topped by a crosslet of the same, on either chief corner a bunch of grapes Or leafed Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and short white scroll, in Bénard Guedes style, reading in black upper case serifed letters "FREIRIZ".
Meaning:
The arch, in fact being a scaffold, is symbolising local festivals and traditions. The grape bunches are symbolising agriculture, especially viticulture as most important business line.

Freiriz is one of the 21 communes of Vila Verde Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 1056 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 5,74 km².
