On 1 January 2020, the old �fjord Municipality and Roan Municipality merge into the new �fjord Municipality.

The result of that merger is that the new �fjord Municipality took over the symbols of the now former Roan Municipality, but so far I have no flag information to confirm this, only the coat of arms.

Blazon: I blått tre oppflyvende sølv terner, 2-1. In English: Azure three terns volant argent.

The municipal site explains that the municipality run a competition in 1983 and the idea by Solfrid Krogfjord with three terns was adopted appropriate for a coastal municipality. The design was heraldized by Einar H. Skjervold from Trondheim
