Kastellorizo, officially Megisti, is a Greek island and municipality of the Dodecanese in the Eastern Mediterranean. It lies roughly 2 kilometres off the south coast of Turkey, 125 km east of Rhodes, almost halfway between Rhodes and Antalya. Kastellorizo is part of the Rhodes regional unit.
The modern flag of Kastellorizo bears the same elements as the historical flag - a cross and a fouled anchor crossed per saltire over a heart, in brown, black and red, with the name above and below.

According to the book Hellenic flags
[k7k97], the flag used in Kastellorizo in 1821 during the Greek War of Independence is white with a blue border, a cross and a fouled anchor crossed per saltire over a heart, all blue and surrounded by the blue writing "ΜΕΓΙΣΤΗ" (left) "ΚΑΣΤΕΛΟΡΙΖΟ" (right).
The heart stands for love, the anchor for hope and the cross for faith.
