Charlton Athletic Football Club is an English professional association
football club based in Charlton, south-east London. The club was founded on
9 June 1905 when a number of youth clubs in south-east London, including
East Street (now known as Eastmoor) Mission and Blundell Mission, combined
to form Charlton Athletic. Their chosen colors are red and white (most
likely to emulate either the English colors and/or the London colors,
although I'm more inclined to believe that in this case, the pattern follows
the London flag, since the club originates in that city and club's logo
features the same sword in hand motif as the city's
coat of arms. It became a
professional team in June 1920 when it joined the defunct Southern League.

The club is currently owned by Danish-American businessman, Thomas Sandgaard, who completed his acquisition of 100% ownership
of Charlton Athletic Football Club from East Street Investments Limited on
September 25th, 2020 via his wholly owned entity, Clear Ocean Capital Limited"

Even though there
seems not to be a proper official flag, there are semi-official flags in use
(that is: used on the stadium for official games and on the club's premises). There are two types of semi-official flags: the white background with logo in
the middle and the red background with logo in the middle.
All the other
flags are fan-made and follow the same pattern as most English clubs in which
the England flag is used as "background" and it is adorned with written
inscriptions and/or other logos/images on each corner, as seen at
gb@eng.html.
