"The Desjardins Group (French: "Mouvement des caisses Desjardins") is the largest association of credit unions in North America. It was founded in 1900 in Lvis, Qubec by Alphonse Desjardins and his wife Dorimne Desjardins. 132 founding members signed the document at the meeting of December 6, 1900, in which the caisse was founded. It is now based in Montral. The caisses are devoted to regional economic development. (In the early 1940s) the caisses d'conomie (credit unions) were born and would grow through the payroll deduction system, among other things.
Montreal firefighters, Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific Railway
(CPR) employees and the Montreal police founded group caisses in the mid-1940s.
In September 1962, 14 caisses joined together to create the Fdration des
caisses d'conomie du Qubec. At the end of the year, 32 caisses were affiliated
with the new Fdration. In 1967, 5 years later, 225 caisses d'conomie were
founded in the major industries in all of Quebec's sectors of economic activity.
On September 19, 1979, the Fdration des caisses d'conomie du Qubec joined
Desjardins Group.
On November 23, 1997 the 3 major unions in Quebec,
namely CEQ (Corporation des enseignants du Qubec, formerly Centrale des
syndicats du Qubec, official website:
http://www.csq.qc.net), CSN (Confdration des syndicats nationaux, official
website:
http://www.csn.qc.ca/index.html) and FTQ (Fdration des travailleurs et
travailleuses du Qubec, official website:
http://www.ftq.qc.ca) and the Fdration des caisses d'conomie Desjardins
du Qubec (FCEDQ) formalized an alliance. Later, in 2001 to foster the
harmonious combination of both networks (caisse populaire and caisse d'conomie)
while recognizing and guaranteeing the development of the caisses d'conomie
within Desjardins Group, a by-law was adopted by the FCEDQ and the Confdration.
Since then, the caisses d'conomie have been represented within Desjardins Group
by the Group Caisse.
The Desjardins Group has over 20 subsidiaries
offering products and services related to insurance (Desjardins Financial
Security, Desjardins General Insurance), real estate (Place Desjardins), venture
capital funds (Desjardins Venture Capital) and brokerage (Desjardins
Securities). The Desjardins Group, through subsidiary Dveloppement
international Desjardins, is also active in over 50 developing countries through
technical assistance programs and various investments."

It is different from Dave's mentioned flag since Dave's is green background, and
this specimen is in inverted colors.
And
here is a variant of the previous flag (white background with logo:

"CAISSE" in black capitals below.
